Our story

Kohvand was founded by Ahmadshah, a Dutch entrepreneur with family roots in Afghanistan. The idea is simple: bring emeralds and lapis lazuli from the Hindu Kush to European jewellers, with clear information about origin, treatment and documents.

Origin & quality control

What we can show you, stone by stone

We do not ask you to trust a label. For every stone we state where it comes from, which documents exist for it, and what an independent laboratory found.

Origin & Transparency →
  • Region of origin stated per stone: Panjshir for emerald, Badakhshan for lapis lazuli.
  • Lab report from an independent laboratory named on the listing, where a report exists.
  • Treatment written exactly as the lab report states it, never rounded up.
  • Sanctions screening and supply-chain due diligence per delivery route.

How ordering works

From enquiry to delivery in four steps

  1. Ask

Send the stone code, or describe what you need: size, colour, quantity, budget.

  2. Review

We send photos, video and the lab report or supplier documents for the stones that fit.

  3. Agree

You receive a written quote with price, payment terms and delivery terms.

  4. Receive

Insured shipping or collection, arranged per order. Documents travel with the stone.
