About Panjshir emeralds
The Panjshir valley, north-east of Kabul, has been a known source of emerald for decades. Emeralds from the area are often valued for a bright, slightly bluish green. Like most emeralds, they usually contain inclusions; a stone without any is rare.
Treatment
Most emeralds on the market are clarity-enhanced, usually with oil or resin, to make fissures less visible. That is normal in the trade, but it must be disclosed. On every listing we write the treatment exactly as the lab report states it, including the degree (for example “minor” or “moderate”).
Lab reports
Where a stone has a report from an independent laboratory, the lab name, report number and date are on the listing, and we send you a copy before you buy. Origin determination is a lab opinion, not a guarantee; we show what the report says.
What we look at
- Colour: hue, tone and saturation, in daylight and under artificial light
- Clarity: type and position of inclusions, and whether fissures reach the surface
- Cut: proportions, symmetry and how well the stone returns light
- Durability for the intended setting

FAQ
Can I see a stone before buying?
Yes. We send photos and video first. Viewing in person or on memo can be discussed per stone.
Do you sell matched pairs?
On request, subject to availability. Tell us the size and colour you need.
Do you sell rough or raw emerald?
Our focus is loose, faceted emeralds. Rough emerald can be supplied on request, subject to availability.
What does an emerald cost per carat?
It depends on colour, clarity, treatment and size, so we quote stone by stone. Our emerald price guide explains what drives the price.
Are your emeralds untreated?
We do not make general claims. Each listing states the treatment found by the laboratory. If a stone has no lab report yet, we say so.
